Paphos Tigers beat Ayia Nik Stags

Paphos Tigers 61   Ayios Nikolaos Stags 0

The Tigers proved to be too strong for the visiting Stags team last Saturday at the Kiniras Sports Centre, Paphos. The huge Stags pack was gradually worn down by a lighter but fitter Tigers side who took control of the game midway through the first half. The Tigers back line proved to be too lively for the Stag defence and incisive runs by Tigers Des White, Matt Lowe and George Agathocleous  were regularly ripping through the Stag's three quarter line. Agathocleous scored a hat trick of tries as the Stags slowly became tired and battered.

The Tigers back line displayed some effective flowing moves which pleased the large crowd of regular supporters. Winger young Marcus Holden had a couple of good scoring runs and was in fine form with the boot for conversions. The pack also showed lots of determination with youngster Lee Thomson (Gary's son)  performing well in the line out and the Thoma brothers, Tony and Chris being outstanding in the forwards.  To their credit the Stags side never gave up and proved gritty and tough opposition up until the last whistle.

A great day's rugby for the home team and supporters with all the usual refreshments and pitch side banter.

Thanks to all the supporters for turning out in such numbers and providing a great atmosphere.
