The players and supporters and some special guests all arrived at the Aquamare Hotel on the evening of the 29th June for our annual awards dinner.

Amid an atmosphere of celebration of the 2006-7 season where the Tigers finished 3rd in the league everyone settled in for an entertaining evening.

With some early drinks and the delicious buffet out of the way the audience prepared for the awards presentation. Out chairman Theo Lenos took to the stage to present the awards.

Player of the Year - Tony Thoma
Once again Tony led the team by example through the 2006-7 season and showed his Tiger qualities. When heads were in danger of going down Tony rallied the troops and kept us on course. Thank you to Tony for a great season.

Player's Player of the Year - Chris Thoma
Another storming season for our inside centre brought home the Player's Player of the Year Award. Chris' dedication to his preparation and performance (and an international cap) were an inspiration to the players and supporters alike, epitomising the the spirit of rugby and setting an example to those around him. Congratulations Chris.

Most Improved Player - Dinu Floredan
Dinu moved on from rookie of the year last year to being the Tigers most improved player. This consistent improvement is due to Dinu's enthusiasm for the game and a keenness to learn and improve at every training session and in every game. Expect much more from Dinu in the future!

Rookie of the Year - Sean Smith
Our new fly-half arrived with some years of club and county rugby behind him and fitted into the Tigers squad immediately. His performance against the Crusaders was a highlight where he ran in 3 tries in the first half. An excellent addition to the club with his best years still ahead of him.

Club Person of the Year - Su Hill
Organising and cajoling and helping raise money for the club saw Su collect the Clubman of the Year Award. In accepting the award Su praised those who had helped her to achieve so much in such a short period.

President's Cup - Demetri Maratheftis
Outgoing President Chris Athinakis selected Demetri for the President's Cup in recognition of some fine play through the season and being top try scorer. Another great season for Demetri.

Colt of the Year - Jack Bilton & Ciaran Poulton
In a year which saw the Colts beat the Crusaders Colts twice, having lost to them heavily in previous encounters, it was fitting to reward these achievements. Jack & Ciaran share this award for their embodiment of the spirit that runs through the Colts. Ciaran said on acceptance that he was afraid the Crusaders Colts were too afraid to play them anymore. We congratulate the Colts on a tremendous season.

With the awards out of the way Theo ran through the raffle but his apparent colour blindness meant it was hard to know which colour tickets were winning. 216 bloo won something we think...!

And to the dancing. With a special appearance by the Tiger himself (AJ got a tiger suit from somewhere!) everyone hit the dance floor for the era spanning disco.

A great night was had by all. Thanks to those who came!
